Claritas’ Prizm Clusters define a large amount of where a new product is test marketed. To use, simply type in your ZIP code and discover the “5 Prizms” who live near you. The second link is a definition of each of the 60 some-odd classifications that Claritas has defined.

Arbitron
The Nielsen of Radio…responsible for determining rates of radio air time. Most recent note: the PPM = Personal People Meter. The PPM is replacing the outdated form of the “Diary” that Arbitron & Nielsen still use to measure viewing/listening habits. The PPM is a digital device that records everything the person hears … from the background music in a grocery store, to the radio and TV…even streaming/downloads from the internet.
 
Nielsen
Nielsen is responsible for ratings of television shows, dictating advertising dollars. Become aware of sweep dates (dates used as a kick off for the 4 Quarter Readings), rating terminology (good for buying TV commercials).
