Labor Radio Talk Show - Kokomo, Indiana

Labor Unions of Kokomo and Howard County have created the first Labor Radio Talk Show sponsored and produced by local unions. This weekly show began airing on August 20, 2003 and has drawn listeners from across the state.

UAW Local 292 President Midge Collett and GMP Local 238 President Larry Johnson approached WZWZ/WIOU radio about having a Labor Talk Show and the programming director was all for the idea.

Each week we have a different guest speaking about different topics that affect working families such as Workers Compensation, FMLA, Proposed Right To Work Legislation, Labor History, Organizing, Pensions, Buying American Made Products and the list goes on.

The Labor Radio Show is on right after Rush Limbaugh on WIOU 1350 AM so we keep much of that audience and the half hour format has brought requests from the audience to expand the format to an hour.

Indianapolis Labor Attorney Barry Macey has recently began appearing once a month to educate listeners about various employment law topics and most recently David Williams appeared to promote the Organize Indiana Project.

Future shows will feature UAW Region 3 Director Terry Thurman and Indiana State AFL-CIO President Ken Zeller.

We write the show, book the guests, choose the topics and WIOU provides Layla Price as the host for the show. This is something that Labor Unions need to do in all areas to get its message out.

All air times are 2:30 PM
