By-Laws Keep in mind that all By-Laws of the local union are subordinate to the International Constitution as well as applicable laws. The following language from the Boilermakers is typical: Local Lodge
By-Laws must conform with the International Constitution as well as local,
state (or provincial), and federal laws. When local lodges seek to revise
their by-laws, they need to check with the International office to ensure
that the language they will use is consistent with the requirements of
all these areas. By-laws which do not conform to the requirements set
in any of these areas will be void. Local lodge officers are strongly
encouraged to contact the International office before the local lodge
votes on by-laws revisions in order to avoid any unnecessary complications. © 2006 ULTRA - Fair
